Who We Are
Hidden Gems of the Ocean Aquatics is a family-owned saltwater fish and coral store located in Madison, New York.
In addition to our retail storefront, we offer aquarium setup, maintenance, water testing, and personalized reef consultation services to help hobbyists create and maintain thriving marine aquariums.
Our passion for aquatic life began decades ago. Owner Phil has been involved with fishkeeping in one form or another since the age of 14, learning valuable lessons from mentors such as John Miller of Empire Aquatic in Canastota, New York.
That passion for fish and lifelong learning led him back to college at age 37 to pursue a degree in Aquaculture from SUNY Morrisville, where Dr. Livengood played an important role in helping him further his education and expand his knowledge of aquatic systems.
One of the biggest challenges in the aquarium hobby is a lack of research and understanding before bringing home new fish or corals. Even after many years in the hobby and industry, we continue to learn something new every day. We believe education is key to success, and we're committed to sharing our knowledge not only with our own children and students but with every customer who walks through our doors.
